A new concept of photovoltaic cells
S'Tile develops a new process of fabrication of solar cells based on thin crystalline film deposited on metallurgical sintered silicon substrates.
The process combines both advantages of thin film technology with its low price of production and of crystalline technology with its high efficiency and durability. The other advantage of a sintered substrates is that it can be locally oxidized. On the same sintered substrate, different sub cells prepared in the thin film can be isolated and then serie connected allowign an improved efficiency. This is the concept of the integrated solar cell called i-Cell.
