Company history

S’Tile project of fabrication of solar cells by sintering of silicon powders was started at CNRS lab. from Université de Poitiers 10 years ago ; resulting in two patent applications in 2003.

Thanks to VC investment of 1.2 M € by EMERTEC and to subsidies from french research ministery, OSEO and Poitou Charentes Région of 400 k €, S’Tile SA was founded in may 2007.

In June 2009 its objective of producing solar cell test with a 15 µm Epi thin Si film on a sintered substrate was obtained in closed co-operation with the Institute of Solar Energy ISE (Fraunhofer Freiburg- Germany).

In Q4 2010, a second round has been organized with the historical VC Emertec and the regional VC fund of Poitou Charentes Innovation.
